Our annual event brought together healthcare executives from around the region, along with leaders from local and state public health, emergency management and private sector partners who work with and serve health care in our community.
Dr. Dan Hanfling was our keynote speaker whose talk focused on emerging threats, the need to coordinate and collaborate as a community, and crisis standards of care. His slides will be available for download in October. Dr. Hanfling, Chair, NASEM Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness and Contributing Scholar, Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security, was instrumental in the foundation of one of the nation’s first healthcare coalitions, Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance, created in 2002.
We also heard from Michael Loehr, Chief of Emergency Preparedness and Response at Washington Department of Health, about the changing landscape of healthcare preparedness and future priorities for our state, and from Carrie Kroll with the Texas Hospital Association about the preparations for and response to Hurricane Harvey. Onora and Carrie’s prerecorded conversation can be heard here.
Thank you to our emcee, Glenn Farley from King 5, and Sabey Data Centers, our Presenting Sponsor. John Sabey’s presentation can be downloaded here.
